Our favorite Aussie popstar is back! Kylie Minogue is back in the pop music scene with her eleventh studio album, “Aphrodite.” It’s been about three years since Kylie’s last album, “X,” but don’t worry Kylie fans….she’s still on top of her game! Kylie has teamed up with British songwriter/producer Stuart Price as the executive producer of her album, to give her fans a delicious electropop album.
The album’s first single, “All The Lovers,” gave her fans a sweet taste of what her album would sound like, and her fans loved it! (The song has peaked at #4 on the UK Charts.)
The album’s second single, the uptemo dance track, “Get Outta My Way,” is even better than the album’s first single! (We heard that Britney Spears’ team wanted the song for her new album.) Some of our other favorite tracks on the album are “Everything Is Beautiful” and “Better Than Today.”
“Aphrodite” is an amazing electropop album that will have you in a good mood, dancing, and singing along to each song, after a few plays. One of the reasons why we love Kylie so much is because she’s one of those amazing artists that can try different musical styles, and you always know that your listening to a Kylie album. We love Kylie’s new album, and look forward to seeing her promote it.
“Aphrodite” is in stores on July 5th (UK) and July 6th (US).
In a super short article in the August 2010 issue of Cosmopolitan, Britney talks about her hiatus from music after her smash album and wildly successful world tour. She is currently promoting her new collection with Candie’s exclusively sold at Kohl’s retailers. She says of the process, “I’ve never designed clothing before, and I really loved the creative process.”
It’s incredibly refreshing to see that Britney has time off to enjoy motherhood. She says. “I’ve been spending a lot of time at home with my boys. They just started karate class, which is supercute!”
What is not refreshing is the horrific photoshop tragedy that is the cover. What was Cosmo thinking? Her body looks amazing in a way that you can tell it wasn’t heavily edited to. But her head is OBVIOUSLY taken from another shot. It isn’t even proportional to her rockin’ body. Some genius at Cosmo thought it would be unnoticeable to the untrained eye if they just made her neck bigger and added shading under her chin. You got it, guys! No one will ever notice.

We hung out with E!’s author/comedian/writer, Heather McDonald, at her book signing at RJ Julia’s, in Madison, CT. We talked about her funny new book, “You’ll Never Blue Ball In This Town Again,” and what it’s like to work with Chelsea Handler, on E!’s “Chelsea Lately.”
After finding out the Backstreet Boys were coming back to the states after being overseas for almost two years, out came my inner 13-year old girl. I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing these guys perform since their Black & Blue tour in 2001. So the word “excited” would be an understatement. Now, with a new album & a whole new tour- Brian, AJ, Nick & Howie prove that “Backstreet’s Back”.
Before the guys came on stage, the crowd enjoyed the performances of “Mindless Behavior”- a new & young R&B group with tons of energy! Even though I was not familiar with them, Backstreet Boys fans were singing along & even imitating their dance moves! We hope to hear more from these talented youngsters in the near future!
When any music group or any celebrity can share their family with their fans, it truly is something special. Bailey (Brian’s son) appeared & introduced his dad along with his band-mates to the stage. Four guys pushed through the curtain, leaving the crowd to ear-wrenching screams. We heard a familiar tune, as they opened to “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” And that they were.
Fans were more than satisfied as the guys performed some of our favorites that we all love and remember. Some songs on their set-list included “As Long As You Love Me”, “I’ll Never Break Your Heart”, “Incomplete”, “More Than That”, & “Shape of My Heart”-along with close to their entire new album “This Is Us”. “Bigger” was also performed, as Brian informed us that this will be their second single off their new album.
One thing I love about the Backstreet Boys are that their 4 different personalities bring something special to each performance they give their fans. Brian- still acts like a goofball on stage, smiling and posing for fans’ cameras and making sure everyone knows he’s still having a blast doing what he loves. AJ- still brings us that soulful voice that we all love, and can still hold the title of the “bad-boy” of the group. Howie- the “lover” of the group, makes sure that his fans knows how appreciative he is of their love & support, as he handed out roses to the crowd. Nick- still passionate about everything he does. From every song, every lyric, every dance move, every wink, every smile. He gives his all & you can tell.
One of my favorite parts of this new tour is when the guys came out in outfits replicating their “Larger Than Life” video. The crowd went wild as this was the only song they kept the original choreography to, from back in their “Millennium” days. They also gave a nostalgic performance of “I Want It That Way” as the crowd believed this was the end. But the guys, yet again, surprised everyone as they came back through the curtains for their encore performance of their first single off their new album “Straight Through My Heart”.
Now, more than a decade later, the show was better than ever. The Backstreet Boys reminded me why I loved them as a teenager and why they are still performing to their fans for the past 17 years. BSB gave us a perfect mixture of who they were & who they’ve become. By giving exceptional performances like these, these 4 guys keep proving that they are here to stay. And my advice- if the guys are in your area, make sure to check them out on tour!

After fifteen years being on Jive, The Backstreet Boys have left their label, Jive Records. The guys posted a message to their fans on their website:
“So the news is out! The Backstreet Boys are no longer signed to long time record label Jive Records. The amicable split is very exciting for the group. This is the best thing, at the best time that could have ever happened for us”, says Brian Littrell. “We are confident in the future of our band, and are looking forward to the new things to come. 2011 is going to be a great year for us!”
AJ McLean told The Sun Herald, in Biloxi, “We are going back into the studio in September to work on the next record and we have some pretty big surprises for that — which we can’t talk about just yet, but I’m sure after say, the (June 8 ) Boston show, people will have an idea about that.”
According to BSBchina.com, BSB have signed with Universal, and it will become official after the tour.
The guys are currently on tour promoting their album, “This Is Us.”
What do you think about The Backstreet Boys leaving Jive? Do you think that they will be more successful with a different record label promoting them? Discuss.
