Good things definitely come in fives! Boy bands are starting to make their much needed return to the music scene, and girl groups are not too far behind. I had the pleasure of spending a fun filled day in the city with pop music’s next big girl group, The Beach Girl5. The sexy group, which is made up by Mandy Jiroux, Brooke Adams, Dominique Domingo, Noreen Juliano and Laura New, was hand picked by Tommy Hilfiger to perform at his private party during New York’s “Fashion’s Night Out” over the summer. (After seeing their sexy performance, we can see why!)
I was introduced to the girls by my buddy, V Factory member, Wesley Quinn over the summer. While spending time with them before our interview, in hair and makeup, I found it hard not to fall in love with their funny and alluring personalities. We made jokes and laughed for a good chunk of the day, which made us feel like we had been friends for years. This is undoubtedly one of the characteristics that makes the group so lovable.
We started off talking about the basics. They told us that we can expect on their highly anticipated debut album sometime next year and that it will be mostly pop. We also talked about meeting some of their idols, who they’d love to tour with, what inspires their style, and even the one and only Zac Efron. (Yes, even The Beach Girl5 aren’t immune to the allure of Zac Efron.) The girls even taught me the choreography to their song, ‘Good Vibrations.’ The results were….well, you’ll just have to watch the interview to see if their sexy choreography rubbed off on me.
Mandy is also the entrepenuer of the group. Not only is she one of YouTube’s most subscribed people (who hasn’t seen The Miley And Mandy Show?), but she’s also a designer. The “Beach Girl” is collaborating with her superstar best friend, Miley Cyrus, on a new bracelet line for Jac Vanek’s already popular line of accessories. The bracelets can be purchased HERE.
Here’s to a future full of chart topping singles, sexy music videos, music awards and sold out concerts! I know you can do it!
Their EP is now available on iTunes. For more info on The Beach Girl5, check out their official Myspace page and website.
Just like fashion styles, music genres also make comebacks after a few years of trying times. It was just nine years ago when we said good bye to the era of boybands and girl groups and said hello to guitar riffs, rockstar anthems and guys with really, really shaggy hair. Now, after a lengthy and winding lull, boybands and girl groups are returning to the spotlight and ready to conquer the new phase in pop-music…
Old timers like the Spice Girls, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys have reunited in the last two years to cater to dedicated fans of yesterday and now more and more new artists are coming out of the woodworks to cater to dedicated fans of today.
With fresh acts like V Factory, Wonder Girls, Varsity Fanclub and NLT, the end of this decade is in for a huge déjà vu and it’s about time!
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of spending an evening with Brooke Adams, Dominique Domingo, Noreen Juliano, Mandy Jiroux and Laura New, who — together — make the L.A.-based girl group, The Beach Girl5. These early 20somethings have everything that we’ve been longing for in a girl gorup: Youth, fun, innocence, class and most of all, music that will get stuck in your head and make your mouth turn into that shape we call a smile.
During last night’s NYC’s Fashion’s Night Out, Tommy Hilfiger hosted a soirée at his denim store in SoHo and personally invited The Beach Girl5 to perform not once, but twice, to a crowd of fashionistas, fans and curious bystanders. With their upbeat singing, synchronized dancing and endearing stage presence, the girls wowed everyone at the store… including themselves!
Fully decked-out in cute Tommy Hilfiger attire, the group performed four songs off of their debut album (which is slated to be released sometime at the end of this year) and even did a cool revival of ‘Good Vibrations,’ by their ‘father’ band, The Beach Boys.
“That was the best we’ve ever done!” Mandy tweeted to her fans. But something tells us that last night’s show will be the first of many bests for these girls, and we’re ready! Are you?
Stay tuned for Dean-Kelly’s exclusive interview with The Beach Girl5, and be sure to visit myspace.com/thebeachgirl5 for more info on the group.
