Is Leona Lewis the next popstar to re-release her latest album? That’s what The UK’s The Mirror is saying. The Mirror reports that Leona Lewis has pulled the plug on any plans to tour Australia, Asia and Europe. Instead, she will be heading straight into the studio to work on a new album.
The Mirror says, “Leona’s heart just wasn’t in the tour towards the end of the UK leg. She was upset, teary and heartbroken over her split with Lou. She’d been with him for 10 years. This was the love of her life. The last thing she wanted was to be on the road away from a support network of friends and family. She wasn’t up for it emotionally.”
Sources are also saying that the other problem with Leona’s plans for the next six months was Christina Aguilera scrapping her tour after it bombed with poor sales in the US. The sources said, “Christina’s tour flopping caused a major problem for Leona. It meant she would have a long time to wait before she could tour the rest of the world.”
Don’t worry Leona fans! The X Factor winner has awesome plans for the next few months. This week she went into the studio producer Dallas Austin to start working on new tracks for a deluxe edition of her album, “Echo,” to be released with her tour DVD before Christmas. Her break-up with Lou is fueling some of the new tracks for the album. The source said, “She’s full of ideas. She’s got a new lease of life in song writing. She’s putting her heartbreak into her music.”
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell has picked a deadline for her next album. Sources say that Simon wants Leona’s third studio album by next summer, so she can sing on The US’ X Factor in the autumn. Simon thinks that having Leona perform on his show will give her a huge boost in sales in the The US.
The Recording Industry Of America has named Britney Spears the best selling artist of the decade! The princess of pop has sold over 100 million albums since her debut in the music industry in 1999.
HollyScoop.Com says, “Her debut album Baby One More Time sold more than 28 million copies within a year and her 2nd album Oops!… I Did It Again sold over 20 million copies and debuted at #1 with sales of 1,319,193 million in the 1st week.
Britney is the best selling female artist of the 2000s, as well as the 5th overall, joining the ranks of Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey who have also sold over 100 million albums within their careers.”

Sources tell us that we might be hearing new music from Britney Spears soon! We’re told that MTV will be the first one to hear the new music, and that her record label is planning some promotion with MTV for Britney’s upcoming album. The sources from Britney’s team also told us that her new album is almost ready, and her record label and team are currently picking the album’s first single.
It looks like Britney’s fans will be watching the VMA’s again this year to see if the pop princess will perform or even attend the show. It would be awesome to see Britney performing at The VMA’s again. Besides her awkward “Gimme More” performance a few years ago, Brtiney has always done awesome performances at The VMA’s.
Don’t count Christina Aguilera out of the music game yet. Although Christina’s latest album, “Bionic,” hasn’t dont as commercially well as her other albums, her record label (RCA) has no plans of dropping her from their list of artists. Instead, it looks like RCA is going to re-release the album with new songs. Sources tell us that they’re recording more “radio friendly” songs and they’re also working with producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.
We think that re-releasing “Bionic” with a few new songs is a great idea. Although, it was nice to see Christina work with different producers and a slightly different sound, we think that her fans want to see Christina do something different without trying too hard. It would be awesome if her new music was a combination of her first album and her “Stripped” album.

It looks like Kelly Rowland’s fans will have to wait a little bit longer to hear the singer’s new album. Kelly announced on The Big Tigger Morning Show that her new album is being pushed back until the fall, so that she can continue to work on songs for the album. She said, “I’m just making sure everything is going to be absolutely perfect….I’m still recording.” Music sources are saying that her record label wants new songs that will be more radio friendly, like her European single, “Commander.” We think that Kelly should release “Commander” as her US single! The track, which has been a club hit in the US, would be an awesome summer single for the radio.

Taylor Swift shared some exciting news today with her fans on Ustream. She will be releasing her third studio album, “Speak Now” on October 25th! The album’s first single, “Mine,” will be released around mid-August.
The 21-year-old singer/songwriter/actress co-produced the album with longtime collaborator, Nathan Chapman, who worked with her on “Fearless” and her 2006 self-titled debut album.
