If someone tells you that you’re wasting your time by posting videos on YouTube, tell them that they are oh so wrong. Imagine doing a cover of one your favorite artist’s songs, and then having them sign you to their label because they loved your rendition so much. 20 year old, Esmee Denters did just that.

Originially from The Netherlands, Esmee started off as a girl who posted videos of her singing, on YouTube, to see what people, other than her friends, thought of her voice. The result? Being one of the most subsribed to people YouTube and landing a record deal with a new record label.

Justin Timberlake flew Esmee out to one of his US shows, during his 2007 tour after seeing her rendition of his single, ‘What Goes Around.’ After having her sing on the spot, he loved her and chose to make her the first artist singed to his new label, under Universal, Tenman Records. After working with her on her debut album, for about a year, the urban pop masterpiece, “Outta Here”, was complete.

The album’s lead single, ‘Outta Here,’ sets the tone for the rest of this urban, pop album. The track, which is one of the many produced by Justin Timberlake, is a fusion of pop-rock and urban beats. Esmee sings of a relationship gone wrong and seeing that the person you were with, isn’t that same person anymore. Esmee has said that she writes about what she knows about and what she thinks people our age can relate to. We agree! The song is a mid-tempo, with some hot synthesized beats and lyrics, provided by the singer, herself.

‘Love Dealer’ is the dance track for the clubs. The song has a retro feel to it, which seems to be Justin’s speciality. What’s great about this song is that it shows that Esmee can also do the uptempo tracks that we all love to dance and have a good time to.

One of my favorite tracks on the album is the mid-tempo track, ‘Gravity,’ which has both beautiful lyrics and vocals from Denters. “This ain’t the way that it supposed to be when you’re in love. You got me stuck here on the ground. Everything feels heavy, and I can’t carry the weight for the both of us. Your gravity’s holding me down.”

‘Bigger Than The World’ is a beautiful track, produced by Timberlake. “I’m staring at the mirror at these clothes, and it’s funny, they mean about as much as yesterday. Something is calling me home, me home. I can hear your voice and I’m not afraid. Now I know I’m just a girl. Trying to make my way through this life. But now I feel bigger then the world. With your hand in mine.”

We love the album! The album is currently available in Europe. You can get a copy of “Outta Here,” in the US, on January 11, 2010.
